They were known as the Divas.
Sure, they caused a hell of a lot of controversy—the Hispanic, the Negro, the Jew, the Queer. But everyone would zip their traps the moment the Divas came on the radio.
There was Santana with her sultry husk.
Mercedes with her powerful belt.
Rachel with her sheer emotional sound.
And Kurt with his clear angelic lilt.
Together, the four teenagers ruled the airwaves of 1940s America, taking the country by storm.
Then the 50s hit.
Rachel left to become the famous Rachel Berry on Broadway.
Santana Lopez and Mercedes Jones formed another group, the Troubletones, with Santana’s best friend and roommate, Brittany Pierce.
Kurt Hummel went into fashion, though dearly missed his late night sets. He worked as a tailor for an up and coming a capella group, because they reminded him so much of the Divas and what they once had.
They were later known as the Warblers.
The lead singer went on to become the famous 50s crooner and heartthrob, Blaine Anderson. He encouraged Kurt to rekindle his old singing career and together, the two sold out concert halls across America, as well as overseas.
The pair gladly retired early to the south of France when the late 60s rolled around and rock n roll started to spark.
Rachel was still going strong on Broadway at the time when she met Finn Hudson, drummer of the rock band Puckasaurus. They went through an on again off again relationship until their marriage in 1976.
The Troubletones stopped preforming in the early 70s when Mercedes met solo performer Sam Evans and fell in love, their small quiet marriage a year later in 1973.
Santana went into law later on in the late 70s, while Brittany and her old dance partner, Mike Chang, opened a dance studio together.
In 1998, the Divas reunited for a 50th anniversary concert of their #1 hit, “How Will I Know”. They sold out Madison Square Garden as they sang the songs of their youth, aged hands clasped together as they marveled over their sustained friendship.

Playing Kurt’s supportive boyfriend Blaine Anderson in Glee has turned Darren Criss into a key member of the Mckinley High gang over the last couple of series. This week, as the show returns after its short break, more is revealed about Blaine as his older actor brother Cooper, played by White collar star Matt Bomer, pays a visit from Hollywood. We caught up with 25 year old Criss to find out more…
What can you tell us about Cooper?
Well, for starters, Matt Bomer looks like a Disney prince. I guess they felt the need to flatter me into thinking that he could be my brother- in my dreams! I can’t really reveal what is going to happen between the brothers as I don’t want to ruin it for viewers, but they are 10 years apart in age which brings in certain things.
It must be nice finding out a bit more about Blaine’s background.
Yes, he initially arrived as a strong, confident figure in Kurt’s life, but since then we have seen more cracks, and he has started to become more human and much more relatable. The more we see the fragile, delicate parts of Blaine the more we see the stronger parts of Kurt, and vice versa.
Can you see them staying together?
Anything is possible. Their exciting honeymoon phase has evolved into a real relationship with emotional speed bumps and all the challenges that you face when you are learning about another person. Even is they broke up there would still be more to explore.
You have a Bee-Gees themed episode coming up. What was it like filming that?
It was insane and wild. Glee gets continually more wacky for me. I get to dance in a pair of bell bottoms under a disco ball. How many times does anyone get to do that?
Do you feel different now that some of the characters are leaving school?
I think it will add an exciting new element to the show. Initially it was this huge thing that people were graduating, as people thought it meant characters were leaving. But even though they are going to different places in their lives, I don’t think anyone is really going anywhere. We still have songs to sing and dances to dance.
Why do you think Glee has proved to be so popular?
I think we can all relate to it growing up- we have all done it, or at least are trying to. Then there’s the music, which is our biggest asset. Even if you didn’t know what was going on in the show, or even if you didn’t like it, there is nobody in the world who doesn’t like music.
What was it like taking over from Daniel Radcliffe in How to succeed in business without really trying recently?
I have done theatre my whole life, so it felt like a homecoming. I got to be in front of a live audience again and do something with a beginning, middle and end. I’m happy being occupied by Glee as long as I can, but I can’t wait to get back to Broadway.

Quote reblogged from une fille de rienHe’s incredibly talented but also a really great guy,” Bomer says of his onscreen bro. “He’s completely accessible, and when I got the job, we went out to dinner to talk about our characters but also to just get to know each other, because in order to play brothers you have to have a sort of inherent understanding of the person. And he was thankfully a great professional and totally open to becoming friends so that it would translate onto the screen. Interestingly enough, I felt a very brotherly kinship with him. When we sing together, our voices seem to blend well together so it all worked out great. He’s just a fantastic guy.

“I had an incredible time working with Darren. He was completely professional and fun and came to play. We had a lot of laughs between takes, and we had a lot of fun playing off of each other. Anytime you’re playing someone’s sibling you want to get to know that person and it’s important that they be accessible to that, and Darren was completely open and available so that we were able to develop a friendship and get an idea of what it would be like to actually be brothers.” - Matt Bomer
